Six-Word Memoir: Tether

blank-page-aaron-burden

Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway once wrote the shortest short story: For sale: baby shoes, never worn.

I am revisiting an oldie but goodie writing prompt today.

Here is my six-word memoir:

Horse bolts, as tether remains unused.

Hellooo Loves!

I’m trying something a little different this week. I’m using music to say all the things my words cant seem to capture. I hope you enjoy!

This one precious life I’ve been blessed with! So grateful for another day.

Poui trees are in bloom.

Some days are just a little harder than others.

My faith in God. Because there is nothing I do, can do, will ever do…without Him!

My sister. She continues to inspire me every.single.day.

I live on an island in the sun! hey hey…!

Satisfy my soul. Lazy Sunday mornings. Shared Chocolate Raspberry Truffle coffee. Good conversation and the best company I could ask for…truly satisfies my soul.

Heinrich Heine said, where words leave off, music begins. I hope that by paying attention to all the blessings in my life and by sowing the seeds of faith and gratitude through song, I can truly carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Thank you for reading/listening, I appreciate you! This is me blowing some glitter and confetti on you because you’re super blessed to have received the gift of another 86,400 seconds today, to spend any way you desire.

Make those seconds count!

I love hearing from you…what are you grateful today? If you could choose one song to describe the best moment you had today…what would that song be? Feel free to share below!

Hellooo Loves!

The sun is shining brightly in sweet T&T today! It’s also a holiday. So YAY for long weekends and even shorter work weeks. *cue Frank* Heaven! I’m in heaven!

Here’s my 7 for Seven this week:

Rest & relaxation. My long weekend plans involved church, as it was the Easter Triduum, family because my family takes every opportunity to share food and laugh together, Netflix and lots and lots of sleep. It was frankly the very best way to spend the time.

Potluck lunches. Not only is this a great way to share the load of cooking, but when done right, you can try a new dish like a spicy lentil carailli (car-rye-lee) soup or a veggie lasagna that will make you say who needs meat! I had the absolute pleasure to have shared a really delicious meal amidst great conversation with really happy people.

Affogato. Man add some alcohol infused strawberries and this is coffee all grown up and sexy.

Dinner with the sis. Because even though we speak everyday, dressing up and going out to eat and catching up over a really nice dinner is an extra special treat. Bonus: When she pays!

Seedless grapes. No explanation required!

Instagram challenges that inspire me. Susannah Conway’s April Love project has been inspiring me for the last few days. Her month-long challenge has already generated over 5000 posts. Feel free to join in and spread some love on your timeline.

Planning vacations for the rest of the year. Long weekends are great and all but they are a reminder that more relaxation is needed. Looking forward to my next real vacation!

Cheers to lazy days! They are so few and far between that they seem like an extra special treat when they occur! I hope that by paying attention to all the blessings in my life and by sowing the seeds of faith and gratitude, I can truly carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Hello Loves!

This life we live. If it ain’t one thing…it’s certainly another. After feeling down and finally getting myself back on track, my timelines were flooded this week with way too many RIP messages.

Once again I was reminded of just how fragile life is. Each day you open your eyes and you’re still in the land of the living is a chance to start again. To own your shit (whatever it is) and live your life. Here’s to this one precious life we are blessed with and living it to the fullest.

That said, here’s my 7 for Seven this week:

Another week. Another day. Another chance. Still here. I’m grateful for the chance every day to start again.

This blog. This community. I appreciate you dear reader, more than you will ever know.

Juicing. I’m grateful once again this week for doing something good for my body.

Netflix and wine. Because adulthood.

Impromptu family barbecues. Sometimes the best experiences are the ones we don’t plan. I haven’t belly-laughed like that in a long time.

Instagram accounts that inspire me. One of my absolute favourite accounts is this one.

This song. This video. These lyrics!

And there you have it. Short and sweet. I hope that by paying attention to all the blessings in my life and by sowing the seeds of faith and gratitude, I can truly carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Heya Loves!

I’m in a mood. This morning The last couple weeks or so I just didn’t feel like doing anything…far less writing. I think it was a Molotov cocktail of tiredness, trying to completely get over the flu, a whole lot of side hustling and very little sleep.

Sometimes, I think the light at the end of tunnel is getting brighter and I’m closer to coming out on the other side and then I realize it was just the glare in my damn eyes and that light is much farther than I realized.

I believe that I was put on this earth to help and positively impact others, to love and share my light with as many people as I can and to leave this world a much better place than I found it.

But it’s hard to stay positive when I’m like this. I just wanna hold a little pity party and ignore the world for a bit…but bills. And I have this habit…I like to eat. So all I could manage for the last few days was work and some radical self-care.

This self-care unfortunately meant this space suffered but I can’t say I have any regrets. I’m learning that sometimes a rest-up and some time away to recharge is OKAY.

That said, here I am and here’s my 7 for Seven this week:

Sleep. There is healing power in restful sleep. After being sick while on vacation and then coming back to a hectic schedule and trying to recover while burning the candle on both ends – I needed sleep. Lots and Lots of sleep. And it has been my happy place over these last few days.

Eucalyptus and Spearmint. The most relaxing combination in a candle. Ever!

Juicing. When I’m in a crappy mood, my food choices kinda reflect that as well. I made the effort over the last few days to increase the amount of fruits and veggies I put into my body. It not only lifted my spirits to know that I was making good choices for my body, but it made me feel less guilty for #4 and #6. Win-Win!

Tiramisu. Because when I need a pick-me-up…this will do it every.single.time.

Getting rid of clutter. Something wonderful happens (after the pangs of wistfulness fades) when you get rid of clutter. In my case, I went on a major wardrobe overhaul – I got rid of everything I have not worn in a year and some things I haven’t worn in 6 months. The act of clearing space in my closet also helped in clearing some clutter in my head. I can’t explain it but my apartment and my mind felt lighter afterward.

Home-made from scratch brownies. Because chocolate is my love language.

My Cohort of Awesome. I spend a lot of time in this space talking about the Family I’ve chosen – my friends. And that’s because my journey would not be the same without them. I am/will be forever grateful for these awesome people I get to call my friends. My COA has recently expanded by two and I feel so blessed to have these two beautiful women and fellow bloggers in my life. The encouragement and honesty of these awesometastic hippies has become two of my favourite things. I am truly blessed.

And there you have it. Short and (hopefully) sweet. I hope that by paying attention to all the blessings in my life and by sowing the seeds of faith and gratitude, I can truly carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.
