Heya Loves! I’m sick. {Hence the delayed post.}

It’s been about 7 days so far…ugh! It started off as an allergy (or so I thought), and I took some allergy medication but promptly had an allergic reaction to the freaking allergy meds. After the swelling around my eyes went down, my sinus started acting up and that ballooned into sore throat, aches and pains and mouth-breathing.

My vacation was okay despite all of this and because of that I have much to be thankful for. Here is my [short] SEVEN for this week:

Sleep. Never underestimate the healing power of restful sleep. This has been my saving grace over the last few days.

Friends.. Nothing reminds me of my single status more than when I’m sick and I have to take care of myself. For once, I had people around me, who took care of me at my lowest. I am forever grateful.

Hot showers. Because they can be almost medicinal to aching bodies. Add in a citrus/ginger body wash and the steam can be downright heaven.

Tiramisu. Because even with no appetite…it’s still the thing I want to eat.

Cuban food. I visited Little Havana during my stay and tried the down home goodness that is served up at El Pub Restaurant. They served a yummy chicken broth that went a long way to restoring my appetite. They serve the soup with a wedge of lime that kicks the flavour profile up a million notches. It was mmm mmm good!

Buying my first piece of art. This trip, we finally made it to South Beach! And after dinner, we took a walk around and came across this shop/gallery of artist Romero Britto’s work. I was absolutely drawn to his use of bright, vibrant colours. I called his work “happy” before I researched him and realized that he uses art as a “visual language of hope and happiness” which is a reflection of his “optimistic faith in the world around him.” You can buy happiness and I’m grateful that I brought it home with me too!

Safe travels. Because the way the world has been going recently, this is something I am truly grateful for.

And there you have it. Short and (hopefully) sweet. I hope that by paying attention to all the blessings in my life and by sowing the seeds of faith and gratitude, I can truly carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Thank you for reading, I appreciate you! This is me blowing some glitter and confetti on you because you’re super blessed to have received the gift of another 86,400 seconds today, to spend any way you desire.

Make those seconds count!

I’m sure this cold is almost finished. *fingers crossed* Just a few more days and I hope to be back to being ME! In the meantime, I love hearing from you…what are you grateful today? What made you smile? Feel free to share below!

Hello Loves! Carnival is in full swing and I have opted out of the festivities again this year. By the time this is posted I will be well on my way to a mini vacation! And so begins the 8th week of this already fantastic year.

Here is my [short] SEVEN for this week:

Vacation b*tches! My favourite sentence this week: ¡Bienvenido a Miami!

Shared experiences.. What’s better than mini vacays??? Mini vacations with friends!

Connecting with people. My heart has been busted open this week. Valentine’s Day came and went as any other, but this week I had the opportunity to open my heart in ways I never thought possible and I am grateful to know that I can!

H2O! It’s been an intense week of parties, friends, airport runs, late nights, little sleep and all this alongside long days at the office. This is Trinidad Carnival. Thanks to good old H20 for keeping me hydrated and sober and thus able to keep going.

Pedicures. Sometimes a very necessary indulgence. Plus, hot pink toes make me feel sexy!

This body. This one precious body I have been blessed with and have pushed to great lengths this last week has not failed me yet. I am grateful that I enjoy relative good health and I promise to get some much-needed rest over the next few days.

My hustle. Because I could not afford my lifestyle without it.

And there you have it. Short and (hopefully) sweet. I hope that by paying attention to all the blessings in my life and by sowing the seeds of faith and gratitude, I can truly carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

A tree says: My strength is trust.
I know nothing about my fathers,
I know nothing about the thousand children
that every year spring out of me.
I live out the secret of my seed to the very end,
and I care for nothing else.
I trust that God is in me.
I trust that my labor is holy. Out of this trust I live.
Whoever has learned how to listen to trees
no longer wants to be a tree.
He wants to be nothing except what he is.
That is home. That is happiness.

Better Every day

It’s been a rough start to February. I’ve been trying to keep my head above water and I have to keep reminding myself that “all that in it.”

There will be good days and bad days. That’s life..no?

This journey is about experiences. And how we use those experiences whether they are good or bad. Don’t you agree?

As we progress through this life, we are collecting experiences…collecting experiences so that we can impact others. That’s what this time on earth is all about.

We collect and then we impact others. And this is how we Love.

The reality is if you woke up this morning in your own bed with a roof over your head…healthy, there was food on the table, you had a choice of what to wear and money in your wallet you are richer and more blessed than 75 per cent of the world.

And this was just the start of your day. How are you using the rest of your day to impact others?

Better everyday is a whole-life project that requires baby steps in all areas of our lives. What that means for me is finding one more thing every day to be grateful for…despite it being the week from hell! To learn something new every.single.day. And thus, share what I’ve learnt with those whose path touches mine.

Learn. Grow. Expand. Change. Evolve. Repeat.

Mae West profoundly said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

What does growth mean for you?

DarkWhat does better mean for you?

Will this one precious life you’ve been blessed with…no matter how long or short…be enough for you to say you lived it to the fullest and that you were the very best version of you that you could be?

I would love to hear your thoughts on being better. Feel free to share below.
