7 for Seven

Can you believe it? We’re already 7 days into April – no joke!

Where did the time go right? I still cannot believe that I have been doing this 7 for Seven series for more than three months already. But I am so happy that I started it.

…every Monday, we post seven positives from the previous seven days of the week as a reminder of what we have so that the week starts out on an upswing. There is much truth in the belief that happy people attract good things, so it is important to start the week out right. Sometimes it’s the more grand, but other times, it’s the simple things.

7 for Seven originated at Key + Arrow and I think being thankful for all the goodness in my life has been the best way to start my week. So much so Mondays are becoming one of my favourite days of the week. I love reminding myself how much I have to be thankful for.

So here are my 7 positives for this week:

7 for Seven week 14

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead. Here’s to good health and being able to breathe!

What are you grateful for this week? Please feel free to share below.

Before & After

There must be a few times in life when you stand at a precipice of a decision. When you know there will forever be a Before and an After…I knew there would be no turning back if I designated this moment as my own Prime Meridian from which everything else would be measured. ― Justina Chen, North of Beautiful

Carnival 2013

I am a Carnival junkie. There is glitter in meh blood. There are no words to describe the feeling I have when I am in full costume on the road, just enjoying the music and the sun. But I think the photo above captures my bliss beautifully. For the uninitiated, this is a sample of what Trinidad Carnival looks like.

Saying I LOVE CARNIVAL is putting it mildly.

And yet I quit the festivities this year. I chose to have a mini vacation instead of glitter, sunburn and soca.

And guess what?

Life went on. People had mad fun in Trinidad.

And MOST importantly I had fun right where I was.

I was at peace and so present to the little moments on my vacation, that there was no time for regrets.

I am glad I chose something different for myself this year.

Because now I know that I can and I will be just fine.

Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself-and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That’s what real love amounts to-letting a person be what he really is. – Jim Morrison

My Cohort of Awesome
This elite group knows and accepts the real me…the hard shell with soft underbelly me.
They call bullshit on my bullshit.
They get it when I need to go inward and need to be alone.
They are there to celebrate my highs and help me laugh through my lows.
They are the ones who said, “I’m here for you” and proved it…again and again.
They allow me to do the same for them.
They never make me feel like I have to fight for their time and attention or insist myself upon them.
They don’t judge me when I have Tiramisu for lunch and then complain about feeling sick afterward.
They are the reason Wine Sundays exist!

My Cohort of Awesome:
The one who has been putting up with my special brand of crazy for more than 25 years.
The one who is always up for a Tiramisu date.
The one who I can get lost on an island with.
The one I met and fell in love with the first day of 6th Form orientation.
The one I can send a “sweet” email and who reads between the lines.
The one who brings me homemade wine and leaves me changed forever.
The one who helped me through the worst September of my life.
The one I just “clicked” with.

My Cohort of Awesome.
The Family I happily chose.
