7 for Seven

I opened the newspaper this morning to read the gruesome news that a father killed his two children – ages 2 years old and 10 months old – and then himself. Worse start to the day and week! What possesses a father to kill his child – far less his two babies? I pray that those babies find peace.

Today more than ever, I needed some positive vibes. We take so much for granted everyday. I hope you take some time to just slow down and acknowledge all the blessings in your life. Be thankful for life. Appreciate your loved ones.

…every Monday, we post seven positives from the previous seven days of the week as a reminder of what we have so that the week starts out on an upswing. There is much truth in the belief that happy people attract good things, so it is important to start the week out right. Sometimes it’s the more grand, but other times, it’s the simple things.

7 for Seven originated at Key + Arrow and I think being thankful for all the goodness in my life has been the best way to start my week. So much so Mondays are becoming one of my favourite days of the week. I love reminding myself how much I have to be thankful for.

So here are my 7 positives for this week:

7 for Seven week 15

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead. Here’s to good health and being able to breathe!

7 for Seven

Can you believe it? We’re already 7 days into April – no joke!

Where did the time go right? I still cannot believe that I have been doing this 7 for Seven series for more than three months already. But I am so happy that I started it.

Trifextra Challenge: The Goodbye

You were born on a Saturday.

And after 23135 days on this earth, you died on a Saturday.

It’s been 1326 days…since.

And I have missed you Mummy, on every single one.

I’m participating in Trifecta’s FINAL {EVER} Trifextra Challenge:

Trifecta Writing Challenge

For this final challenge, we had 33 words to write about whatever we wanted. And of course I just needed to write about my mother. I found this challenge quite by chance back in 2012 and I am so glad I made it in time for the final one. Doing this added a fun dimension to my approach to blogging, my use of words and my writing as a whole. I too would like to thank the editors for the encouragement they have always given to each and every entrant.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
You can check out others’ entries or submit your own if you are so inclined at:

Trifextra: Week 105

Please feel free to share your own thirty-three words below.

GO

Alone.

I am on the train and I cannot believe I am doing this.

I am trying to appear nonchalant, like I do this everyday.

But inside I am nervous. Can they tell?

In a tiny coffee shop now…a real one…not the joke we call a coffee shop back home. I sip and plan my next move.

I am a little overwhelmed as I step out into the cool air.

But excitement is bubbling to the surface. I am here, this is now and I am actually doing this.

Alone.

This should not feel so good. But maybe I really am a loner.

Here I am, walking around Manhattan, just a face in the crowd.

And it is the best feeling ever.

STOP

One of my favourite quotes on travel is by Gustave Flaubert, “Traveling makes one modest — you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” Because it is so true, traveling – stepping out of your comfort zone has a way of humbling you. Flaubert got it right and imagine he wrote this back in 1849.

I spent most of the time getting lost in the memories of that experience, hence the very short post. I didn’t want to cheat and add another five minutes, so this is all I managed for this week’s prompt.
