7 For Seven

Hello loves!

…every Monday, we post seven positives from the previous seven days of the week as a reminder of what we have so that the week starts out on an upswing. There is much truth in the belief that happy people attract good things, so it is important to start the week out right. Sometimes it’s the more grand, but other times, it’s the simple things.~ Key + Arrow

7 for Seven originated at Key + Arrow and here are my short and sweet 7 positives for this week:

Aha-moments. It happens when ever you find yourself catching up with someone you haven’t seen or spoken to in a while: There is the mental inventory and then you either share the highlights and headlines or you share what the “behind the scenes” is really like. Or some mixture of both, depending on the audience. I found myself catching up with some old friends this week and after doing the inventory and I had an aha-moment. In the time that I saw them last, a lot has changed for the better and I didn’t even realize it. I found myself observing my thoughts in fascination. And I am so thankful that I can still manage to surprise myself. Life is good.

Sauna. I love me some sauna. The spa I usually go to offers it for FREE with any treatment and for any amount of time. If you have never tried it…sauna is awesome. It does wonders for relaxation and my feeling of well-being. This last week the flu made its rounds through my office and I unfortunately caught it. 30 minutes in the sauna not only cleared up my congestion but the vibrant feeling I had afterward went a long way in getting me back on the road to 100.

A clean apartment. I cleaned. There should be confetti and glitter on that statement but then I would have to clean that up too…so we will just leave it at: I cleaned.

Good friends and not so good movies. One of my friends celebrated a birthday this week and what she wanted was some drinks and a movie. The celebration and drinks were awesome. The movie? Addicted. Not so much! It is based on a novel by Zane. Now for someone who loves to read and even reviews books on this blog, I am ashamed to admit that I had no idea who this Zane is or what she writes. I’m pretty sure those of you who are familiar with her work are probably snickering right about now too. Long story short: it was soft porn in the company of my sister and two friends. I was SCAN.DAH.LIZED! I am such a little prude too. I realized that as good looking as he may be, I don’t want to see so much of Nicole Ari Parker’s husband’s ass.

Homemade Affogato! I treated myself to some homemade coffee goodness. It wasn’t as pretty as the ones I’ve ordered from restaurants but it tasted just as yummy.

Young, Vibrant Priests. My parish Priest, is someone I’ve known long before he was ordained. And having grown up with parish Priests who were older and more traditional, it is a breath of fresh air when there is one who is from my generation and is aware of what it means to be evolving in this generation and in this time in our history. Mass was awesome yesterday and I feel blessed to be have been there.

Life. I am grateful for another day, for good health and the strength to give God praise and thanks for life. Yesterday on the way to Mass, as we turned onto the main road, this crazy driver who was speeding for what the Lord alone knows because it was the main road, narrowly missed crashing into the side of the car. MY SIDE. I was on my phone at the time (I was not driving) and thankfully the driver saw him probably nano seconds before it all turned into a tragedy. Had we been hit, there would have been serious injuries sustained and some real damage to the car. Thankfully, God had a different plan. And I am grateful.

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

If you’re reading this, this is me blowing some glitter and confetti on you because you’re super blessed to have received the gift of another 86,400 seconds today, to spend any way you desire. What made you happy today? What are you grateful for? I would love to hear from you.

Baked chocolate chip oatmeal muffins. I made a batch of these muffins and I still cannot get over how good they taste and there is no flour in them.

Cute dentists. It helps when the person delivering not so great news is easy on the eyes. (That’s all I’m going to say about that.)

After work team builders. So my team lead decided on a little after work get-together last week and it was much better than I anticipated. It’s amazing how much you can learn about your team members when the “office masks” come off.

My Crockpot. My sister got me a Crockpot and it’s kinda lame how excited I was to try it out. I decided on a simple, chicken and vegetables meal. Long story short: Failure! It will take some practice apparently to get slow-cooking right. And I feel like an idiot for typing that last sentence, but it is what it is.

Chocolate milk! I started adding it to my coffee and it is such a delicious treat, I think I will continue the trend.

My gratitude list. I am happy that I have so much to be grateful for, I made a list of eight things last Monday and I only just realised! I am blessed.

Being able to laugh at myself. Man, I get things wrong so many times, that seems to be the new normal for me. It helps that I’m learning to laugh at myself and not take me too seriously.

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Happy Monday Everybody! Can you believe that we are into the last quarter of 2014? I am already planning my vacation for next year…sheesh! Where did the time go?

As September winds down and the word busy starts to take on the twinkle of Christmas lights, I am reminded of all that I have to be thankful for.

Here and now. I am grateful for this present moment. I’m grateful for learning patience and how not to rush Divine timing.

Good Food. TT Restaurant Week ended last night. It has been a week of really good food and I cannot wait to go through my photos and share the experience.

Great company. I spent Restaurant Week with some fantastically awesome people and it was simply ah-mazing the connections you can make over a great dinner.

My brother-in-law. My BiL was totally down for Restaurant Week and even when I was sad that it was ending and insisted that we do dinner on the final night…he was game!

TIRAMISU!!! Now you all KNOW how I feel about this particular manna from Heaven, and for Restaurant Week, I was able to have it twice in four days! *pats tummy*

Beautiful things. I have been crushing on local artist Rachel Rochford’s jewelry for a while. Last Tuesday, while at dinner with a friend who was wearing a couple of her beautiful pieces, I mentioned how much I wanted a few pieces of my own. Lo and behold on Saturday, I attended a charity event put on by the Soroptimists of Newtown and Rachel herself was in attendance with a lovely display of her jewelry. I left with a ring (which I have been wearing since) and a promise to purchase more.

Green smoothies. I. Love. Kale.

Denzil. Yes. I am thankful for Denzil Washington. At almost 60, this man is still one fine piece of chocolate. Pauletta is sooo lucky. And if you haven’t seen The Equalizer as yet. Don’t stick. Go see it.

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Happy Monday Everybody! Great things are happening this week in Trindad & Tobago. Not only do we have a mid-week public holiday, which means we get two Fridays in one week…but TT Restaurant Week started on September 19 and is running until the 28th.

Restaurant Week is touted as a culinary celebration of some of the best and most delicious restaurants in Trinidad & Tobago! During this ten-day event, participating restaurants offer an exclusive menu at a significantly reduced price, for those interested you can find more information here. OR you can go straight to the delicious menus here.

I am so excited that I was able to secure reservations for my top 3 restaurants this year. The rest of this week is going to be all about good food with great company. I cannot wait. But first…

My blogging community. One of the great things about blogging that you wont know about until you’re in it, is the community. The kinship you feel with people you have never met in person but whose souls you see and feel through their words is one of the best things about blogging. And I am grateful to have found such a community here.

My team at work. I am grateful for them yet again, because the last week was an especially hard one at the office. And once again they are the ones who made it bearable.

Good Books made into good movies. I finally watched The Fault In Our Stars and just like the book which I loved, the movie moved me the same way. You would think after reading the book I would know what to expect, but I was still crying my eyes out by the end.

Wedding Photos. I was finally able to go through the wedding album one of my close friends shared with me of her lovely wedding in early July. Going through the photos was like reliving her special day and they reminded me of the sweetest thing she said to me on that day, I know this is real because I always imagined you’d be here with me on my wedding day. And here you are! Have I told ya’ll lately how much I LOVE my Cohort Of Awesome!!!

Wifi. Home is where the wifi connects automatically!

Hot Chocolate. Because sometimes coffee just doesn’t hit the right spot!

Friends who check up on me when I’m sick. Being a bachelor(ette?) is awesome most days but when I’m sick…it really sucks. There really isn’t anyone to fuss over me and I have to get the meds myself and fix my own meals when all I wanna do is curl up in bed. So when my friends make it a point to check up and ensure that I’m on the mend…I feel loved and cared for.

Rain. It rained all weekend. I’m talking the thunder and lightning kind…and it was simply lovely.

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.

Coffee. There is nothing like waking up to smell of freshly brewed coffee. I do believe that heaven smells like, freshly baked bread, chocolate chip cookies and coffee!

My team at work. It hasn’t been easy supervising 14 men, all at different stages and ages in life. I am learning patience. I am also learning how to appreciate men, because while this is in the corporate setting, personalities make or break a team. I am blessed to have some great personalities to work with.

My brother’s random text msgs. My brother isn’t the most expressive man in the world so when he sends me random “I love you.” text msgs, I cherish them.

Clean slates. I am learning that moving on and starting again can be hard, but the hardest part is taking the first step. But once you take that first step…the next one and one after that gets easier.

IP Virgo. This is my sister from another mother. My adventure buddy. My conscience. We have been friends since were 5 years old. We have been there for each through break-ups, graduations, new apartments, the death of a parent, great loves and crazy bosses. She is my ride or die chick and this journey would be oh so boring without her along for the ride. *Shout out to my Cohort Of Awesome*

My plants. I have been able to successfully keep them alive and thriving and after being responsible for the deaths of 3 cacti and 1 lucky bamboo, I think this is something worth celebrating.

Home-made Coconut Ice cream. This is your mama’s ice cream made from the old-fashioned churned ice cream bucket. The kind that is creamy and coconutty and just mmm mmm good.

Shorter days The sun is setting earlier here in the Caribbean. That’s a sign that we’re getting closer to the end of the year and Christmas is coming. I see you vacation. I see you.

My hope is that by turning my focus to all that I have to be grateful for at the start of my work week, by sowing my own seeds of faith and gratitude, I can carry with me and reap the rewards of “positivity + balance + bliss” throughout the days ahead.
